National Board of Examinations (NBE) took a major decision in doing away with bi-annual admissions to DNB post MBBS, scrapping the July admission session for Specialty courses. The decision implies that only the January admission session will be kept from the next admission session. Further, NBE confirms that the DNB Board speciality courses will be done on the basis of NEET-PG examination only.
NBE, New Delhi has been maintaining two sessions for admission to DNB Board Specialty Courses post MBBS in January and July. While admission to DNB Board speciality courses for January academic session was done on the basis of merit list of NEET-PG. Yet there was a separate DNB CET in June/July every year for admission to that academic session.
Through a recent notification by NBE, it has been declared that from 2019 onwards there shall be only one admission session for DNB Board Specialty courses i.e., January session. The allotment of candidates to DNB Board Specialty courses shall be done through merit basis counselling utilizing the merit list of the corresponding NEET-PG 2019.
According to internal sources, there will be no June/July admission via DNB CET from 2019. Candidates who are participating for counselling to get admission in PG Medical courses for 2019 academic session must keep of note of this notification made by NBE.
